waterdamagequotesau.com is an independent publisher. It writes about what Australian home insurance is taken to cover when water gets into a building, and about what restoration work costs, and it sells advertising to restoration companies.

What it is not

It is not a restoration company. It does not attend properties, does not extract water, does not dry, dehumidify, sanitise, remediate mould, demolish, rebuild or reinstate anything, and it does not supply or hire equipment. It does not hold a builder’s licence, a plumber’s licence, an electrical licence or a restoration certification of any kind in any Australian state or territory, and it is not certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification or by any other body.

It is not an insurer, an insurance broker, an agent of any insurer, a loss assessor, a loss adjuster or a claims management service. It does not hold an Australian Financial Services licence, does not arrange, bind, vary, renew or cancel cover, does not lodge, manage, negotiate or settle insurance claims, and is not an authorised representative of anyone who does.

Nothing on this site is insurance advice, legal advice, building advice or financial advice, and nothing on it takes account of your circumstances, your objectives or your particular policy. Your policy is a contract. Its wording, its schedule, its exclusions and its limits govern your claim, not anything written here.

How this site is paid

Restoration companies pay a fixed advertising fee for each enquiry, agreed in advance. That fee does not change with the size of the job, with whether you go ahead, with what anyone quotes you, with what an insurer pays, or with which company receives the enquiry. We do not take a percentage of any job and we are not paid on completion.

We do not rank, score, accredit, verify, vet or recommend restoration companies, and we do not hold ourselves out as being able to tell you which one is right for your job. We do not publish reviews, star ratings or awards, because we have not collected any and could not substantiate them if we had.

What happens to an enquiry

An enquiry submitted through a form on this site is sent to no more than three restoration companies that advertise for the postcode given, for those companies to contact the enquirer about water damage restoration. Companies receiving it are separate businesses, responsible for their own conduct, their own licensing, their own insurance and their own quotes. We are not their agent and they are not ours.

Submitting an enquiry does not lodge an insurance claim, does not notify an insurer, does not preserve any right or time limit, and has no effect whatsoever on any claim you have made or may make.

Personal information collected through a form is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You can ask us to delete an enquiry, and you can tell any company that receives one to stop contacting you. Write to contact@waterdamagequotesau.com.

Figures, regulations and dates

Every legal statement on this site names the regulation or Code paragraph it was read from. Every dollar figure names the company or government page it was copied from and the date it was read. Regulations are amended, Codes are replaced and rate cards change without notice, so a figure here is evidence of what a source said on a date, not a guarantee of what it says today. Where a figure could not be read from a primary source, it is not published — the methodology page lists what was left out and why.

Rates reproduced from restoration companies’ websites are reproduced to describe the Australian market. Naming a company is not an endorsement of it, an affiliation with it, or a claim that it advertises with us. ANSI/IICRC S500 is a paid standard and its text is not reproduced anywhere on this site; where categories and classes are described, they are described in our own words as Australian restorers use them.
